SecTeer’s VulnDetect v10.0.0 Feature Release

Hey SecTeer Community,

We’re thrilled to announce the release of VulnDetect v10.0.0, now officially rolled out in production! This new update is packed with exciting features and enhancements designed to further streamline your security patch management process. At SecTeer, we’re committed to making vulnerability detection and patch management as efficient and secure as possible, and these new additions to VulnDetect reflect that mission.

Here’s a detailed look at what’s new in this release:

  1. Tags: A New Layer of Control
One of the standout enhancements in this release is the implementation of Tags, giving you greater flexibility in organizing and managing your Hosts. Unlike Groups, where a Host can only belong to one Group, a Host can now have multiple Tags, making it easier to apply nuanced controls.

Key features of Tags include:

  • The ability to create, edit, and manage Tags directly from the new Tags page.
  • Tags can be used as targets for Software Deployment Jobs, in addition to Groups and individual Hosts.
  • A new Approval System for Tags provides added control. If both Group and Tag Approvals apply to a Host, and any of those Approvals block an update, it will be blocked. Otherwise, the update will follow the approval process and either be approved or deferred.
  1. Azure AD Group Support
For organizations using Azure AD (Microsoft Entra ID), VulnDetect UI now integrates Azure AD Groups directly into the platform. These Groups are automatically replicated into VulnDetect UI as Tags, with the system maintaining associations between Azure AD Group Tags and Hosts. Azure AD Group Tags follow the same Approval system as regular Tags, providing consistency in your patch management workflow.

  2. Enhanced Software Deployment Job Features
Several powerful new features have been introduced to Software Deployment Jobs, making the deployment process more flexible and efficient:

  • Support for user-based app installations for applications that require it.
  • The ability to keep Software Deployment Jobs active indefinitely, rather than marking them as Done after execution.
  • A new Job Information page provides detailed insights into each Software Deployment Job and allows editing of certain job parameters.
  • The option to delete Software Deployment Jobs directly from the Job Information page.
  1. Improved Usability and Control
We’ve made significant improvements to usability, giving you more control over the patch management process:
  • You can now change the default Group when creating or editing Groups, offering more flexibility in group management.
  • New functionality allows you to select multiple consecutive rows by clicking the first row, holding down the Shift key, and selecting the last row. This speeds up navigation and bulk actions.
  1. Better Approvals Management
We’ve enhanced Approvals management with new filtering options that let you view Approval status directly within the Approvals pages. Plus, the Dashboard’s Out-of-Date Approvals link now takes you to the Approvals page with a pre-applied filter to display only outdated approvals, helping you address them more quickly.

  2. Miscellaneous Improvements
In addition to these major features, this release includes various minor enhancements that improve the overall user experience and reliability of the platform.

What’s Next?
New features and enhancements will regularly be released for testing and feedback in our UAT (User Acceptance Testing) environment, which you can access here. UAT will always be slightly different from the production UI and may contain features or changes that will never make it to production, providing a unique space for exploring experimental updates before they’re finalized.

At SecTeer, we’re dedicated to Catching vulnerabilities before they cause issues and Patching them efficiently to keep your systems secure. We can’t wait to hear how these new features improve your workflows and make security patch management even smoother.

Stay tuned for more updates, and don’t hesitate to reach out to our team if you have any questions or feedback!
