For many employees, the browser has become the gateway to the working day.

Chrome 151 fixed 370 security vulnerabilities

A recent Google Chrome release illustrates the scale of the challenge.

On July 29, Google released Chrome 151 to the stable channel with 370 security fixes. The vulnerabilities included 7 critical, 71 high severity, 170 medium severity and 122 low severity issues. Among the critical vulnerabilities were use-after-free issues affecting components including Compositing, Views, Skia and Ozone, as well as insufficient validation of untrusted input vulnerabilities.

SecurityWeek reported the following day that Google had already addressed more than 1,800 Chrome vulnerabilities since the beginning of 2026. The individual numbers are striking, but the larger lesson is the frequency with which browser security changes.

A browser considered up to date today may require another security update shortly afterwards. Browser security therefore cannot be treated as a periodic maintenance task. It requires continuous attention.

Releasing the update is only the first step

When Google, Microsoft, Mozilla or another browser vendor releases a security update, an important part of the problem has been solved. A fixed version is available.
