VulnDetect and PatchPro 11.0 Updates (Smarter, More Flexible and Robust Integrated Patch Management)

Organizations seek smarter ways to deploy, monitor, and secure applications on servers and endpoint devices. At SecTeer, we listen closely to our customers’ needs and continually innovate our products to mitigate emerging threats. Our products, VulnDetect and PatchPro 11.0, the latest version to date, simplify vulnerability scanning and patching with precise automation.

  • VulnDetect is an automated integrated scanner that secures endpoints with accurate scanning, scheduled patching, and continuous monitoring.
  • PatchPro is an integrated security patch management tool that works seamlessly with Microsoft Intune.

Together, both VulnDetect and PatchPro provide gapless endpoint security that you can scale across hybrid environments.

What to Expect in VulnDetect V11.0?

If you’re already using VulnDetect and PatchPro, we’re confident you’ve benefited from the streamlined, error-free patch security process that our products offer. With the latest updates, your patch management workflow will get even more flexible.

Restart Hosts More Easily

We give you more control over restarting servers, computers, and devices that you’ve configured as hosts. Moreover, you can define the restart host restart behavior to meet your operational requirements. To do so, go to Configurations > Restart Settings and click Create New Restart Settings.

From there, you can configure these restart parameters:

  • Grace periods and snooze options
  • Custom messages shown to end users
  • Restart configuration presets

After saving the Restart Settings, you can restart the hosts at various pages in VulnDetect. For example, you can click on the Request Restart of Selected Hosts button on the Host page. You’ll also see a similar host restart button at the Groups and Tags page.

Apply Restart Policies via Tags

Tags help you categorize and manage similar hosts together. With the latest update, you can now specify restart policies for every tag you create. This way, all hosts associated with specific tags will demonstrate consistent restart behavior.

Below are the options that you can configure if you choose to enable the restart policy when creating a tag:

  • Maximum Host Uptime: Define how long a Host may run before a restart is required
  • Trigger Conditions
    • After updates that fix 0-day vulnerabilities
    • After Security Updates
    • After all updates
    • After Security Updates with CVSS equal to or above a specified value
  • Apply Policy To
    • All update types
    • Application Updates only
    • Windows Updates only
  • Minimum Restart Interval: Prevent restarts from occurring too frequently

Customize application updates

Organizations seldom deploy off-the-shelf software applications as they are. Often, they require additional configurations to meet their specific security policies and workflow requirements. Therefore, our team allows you to fully customize how supported third-party applications are updated at VulnDetect.

To do so, go to Patching > Approvals and choose an application. Then, click the Edit Selected Approval button.

At the Edit Approval window, you can customize parameters such as:

  • Upload your own installer
  • Attach additional files
  • Set custom install parameters

If you’re using PatchPro, you’ll also find additional settings that give you more control when publishing applications on Intune-connected devices. With PatchPro, you can:

  • Customize an application before publishing it.
  • Modify published applications without retracting or republishing (where supported).

Manage Tags With a Single Click

Tagging hosts to their respective categories can be painstaking. So, we make tag management simpler. VulnDetect V11 features a Manage Tags for Selected Hosts button on the Hosts page. If you’re managing a complex host setup, this feature will be useful in assigning tags without losing context.

Gain Visibility Into Non-Silent Applications

Some applications demonstrate non-silent behavior during installation, updates, or removal. Such behavior, such as displaying a progress bar, interaction prompt, or messages, might disrupt employees.

Therefore, we introduced clear marking on non-silent behaviors in the Applications and Approvals pages. Our goal is simple — to help you plan how non-silent applications are deployed and prevent disrupting your operations.

PatchPro for Intune Now Available to VulnDetect Customers

All VulnDetect customers will now get access to PatchPro at no additional licensing costs. If you’re using VulnDetect, you can manage your InTune connection and publish applications to the connected devices for more granular control in a mixed environment.

On top of that, you get more value from this zero-cost Intune integration, such as:

  • Insight into unmanaged and third-party applications
  • Patch compliance tracking for end-of-life and hard-to-reach software
  • Centralized control over restarts and patch policies

To activate PatchPro on VulnDetect, please contact our representative at SecTeer or submit a request through the support portal.
